Identita & E INK Partner On Innovative New Display Cards - First Customer Announced
Identita The Powered Card™ Identity Provider Announces New Biometric OTP Display Cards & Pin-Based OTP Display Cards Using Award Winning E INK EPD Technology. First Customer Announced.
Rockley, Christ Church, Barbados,– Thursday November 13th, 2008 – Identita, The Powered Card™ provider of cross platform access, authorization and identity management solutions, announces the latest in display card technology with a new line of display cards using E INK electronic paper display technology.
“Working with E INK was great. The display itself and the contrast of the digits are excellent. Our current inlay was designed to allow our customers the maximum in flexibility. The new card is actually a combi-card allowing for both display OTP and acoustic OTP, an Identita patented technology. The card was designed from the ground up for the financial sector, allowing embossing, EMV and magnetic stripe. We look forward to continued mutual success between our two companies” said Vice President of Operations Yannick Le Devehat.
“Most exciting is that we have already secured a win with the Korean Customs Service. South Korea is ahead of the pack in terms of government mandating OTP security for their various agencies. Identita is proud to be the first again in supplying the Customs Service with a time-based E INK OTP security card” said CEO Rocky Stefano
Identita’s biometric display card, ID-Touch is the first and only card of its kind to identify the user via bio-electric signals unique to the registered cardholder. The user places two fingers on the card’s two sensors, verifying their identity by measuring biometric data, such as heart rate and electrical impulses. The data is stored on the card itself, rather than in a third-party location, which not only enables faster deployment of the card, but also makes it the first biometric card to allow users to self-register their data. Once the card is activated, it will not respond to anyone but the registered user, making it virtually impossible to fool. Because ID-Touch reads comprehensive bio-electrical data, rather than relying solely on any one biological component, its functionality is not affected by changes in body temperature or heart rate. Unlike fingerprint biometrics, ID-Touch cannot be spoofed and requires a live subject for authentication.
An Electronic Paper Display is a display that possesses a paper-like high contrast appearance, ultra-low power consumption, and a thin, light form. It gives the viewer the experience of reading from paper, while having the power of updatable information. EPDs are a technology enabled by electronic ink - ink that carries a charge enabling it to be updated through electronics. Electronic ink is ideally suited for EPDs as it is a reflective technology which requires no front or backlight, is viewable under a wide range of lighting conditions, including direct sunlight, and requires no power to maintain an image.
